The revitalization of the abandoned site under the overpass in declining urban infrastructure is not merely a pure visual beautification, but a sustainable design bridging science and art, mediating between nature and culture. This project aims at creating a poetic and soft infrastructure looking at increasing storm water runoff management and treatment by means of landscape architectural ideas, "soft infrastructure". Visible storm water retention and purification was crucial to encourage spaces under the overpass to become more functional and enchanting to the community. Black cascading containers and water basins finished with porous flagstones, are the main elements accommodating storm water and plants growing in wet conditions. During the heavy rainy season, this linear urban park becomes an intriguing soft machine that welcomes all the natural and cultural events in the city.
